Drinking my morning coffee, and browsing the internets this morning, as I shamelessly avoided writing something of substance (about Dying with Dignity, coming soon), I came across this hilarious post about Taylor Swift hating on Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
They joked around about her love life at the Emmys, as she’s a celebrity that type of stuff is fair game.
And then, the cutest thing ever. “”You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people,” Swift said, “because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’ ”
I laughed out loud, because, she quoted someone, who was quoting someone, and she took said quote completely out of context.
That quote is from Madeline Albright, you know, the first female Secretary of State, Medal of Freedom recipient, and all around superwoman.
I’ve liked this quote for awhile, and I’ve used it to discuss women like Sarah Palin, who is not only against reproductive rights, but was down with victims of rape in her state paying for their own rape kits. Or Michele Bachmann, who tried to repeal Obamacare, or Marsha Blackburn, who voted against the Violence Against Women Act.
Pretty sure Taylor “I’m not a feminist” Swift really underused it.
